Shane Stalcup tied flies for over 20 years before departing this world far too soon in May of 2011. Most of that time he was tying commercially and developed his own line of materials. As for the many flies that Shane has created, Solitude Flies is the only authorized distributor. Look for them in your favorite fly shop.
Through the many videos and his definitive book, Mayflies: “Top to Bottom”, he demonstrate the many ways in which he developed new patterns and tells you why he did so. Shane traveled the world giving demonstrations and classes that showed fellow tiers many ways in which to use both new materials as well as the old. He is truly missed.
