The tying of knots is an important part of the Scouting program for both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. For a new Scout learning how to tie the knots, discipline and focus are required, both of which are excellent traits to be developed in a young person. Further the actual knot tying knowledge can give confidence in situations requiring that the right knot be used and tied correctly, not to mention its usefulness in such situations.
